Melocactus maxonii ‘Inermis’ is a rare form of the species Melocactus maxonii, native to Central and South America, valued especially for the absence of spines (inermis = "without spines"). The body is globular, glossy green, marked by well-defined ribs. At maturity, a characteristic cephalium forms at the top – a cylindrical, woolly structure of pinkish-red color, from which small, pink-magenta flowers emerge.

Growth type: Small to medium-sized globular cactus
Stem: Green, globular, with pronounced ribs, without obvious spines

Flowers: Small, pink-magenta, appear at the top of the cephalium
Fruits: Red, elongated, emerge from the cephalium after flowering
🌞 Growing conditions:
Light: Prefers bright light and a few hours of direct sun, but requires gradual acclimation to avoid burns
Soil: Very well drained, sandy-stony, special mix for cacti
Watering: Low; the substrate must be allowed to dry completely between waterings
Minimum temperature: 12–15°C; NOT frost-hardy, requires protected wintering
Wintering: Dry, bright period at temperatures above 12°C
