Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine'

Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' is an evergreen shrub with bright yellow foliage and small golden colored flowers.  If you are looking for a WOW pop of color in your garden then this is the plant for you and is our best yellow foliaged evergreen plant we grow!  Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' is our number one top selling shrub at our retail store and after seeing our plantings along our entrance, many customers come in asking "what it that bright yellow flowering shrub?".  The foliage color of Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' is so brilliant in part shade that people mistakenly think it is in flower (the actual flowers are very small, dark golden yellow and insignificant).  Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' responds very well to heavy pruning (late winter or early summer) and will stay tight and compact with pruning every few years (an added bonus is that the foliage has a delightful licorice fragrance, so it is actually fun to prune just for the fragrance).  Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' is great as a specimen but where it really stands out is in group or mass plantings and cut stems hold up very well in flower arrangements!  Illicium parviflorum 'Florida Sunshine' would make an awesome low hedge/screen in a bright shady area.
