A titanium cushion case housing a hi-beat GMT automatic watch from Seiko.
Model: SAGN007, 4S27-00B0 Seiko Brightz
Year: September 2004
Features:
The Complications. At the time, the 4S27 was one of the most complicated automatic movements Seiko made. As I discuss later on, this era of highly ambitious movements overlaps with the re-birth of Grand Seiko, so I suspect the Brightz line was a jumping off point for a lot of the amazing Grand Seiko specs that followed. It has a Hi-Beat 28800bph movement, with 50 hours of power reserve, retrograde day, circular date pointer, and a 24-hour sub-dial with an independently adjustable hour hand (GMT). It’s a huge amount of watch for the price.
The Dial. Black enamel, worked to Seiko’s incredibly high enamel standards with the beautiful sub-dial indentations we’ve come to expect from Seiko’s craftsmanship. It has an inky quality that sucks in all light.
JDM. Released in the early 2000s, and only in Japan, this watch was hard to track down at the time and even harder to find in good condition now. Often seen as a bit of “grail” watch, by many avid Seiko collectors. Temporally, the Brightz line overlapped the beginnings of Grand Seiko, and as a result they shared a lot of their finishing styles and high-end design points.
The Design. A rarely seen (outside of Patek) titanium cushion case, on a titanium bracelet (or leather strap – the watch came with both), making this a very comfortable and lightweight daily wearing watch.
Titanium Bracelet. The original bracelet – sized up to ~7 inches. The watch also comes with the original leather strap and Brightz buckle.
Condition: The crystal and dial are perfect. The case and bracelet are in very good shape, but there are some light visible scratches, as shown in the photographs. The exhibition case back is in good condition.
Scope: No box, manual or papers.
Movement: Automatic 28,800 bph with 28 jewels, 50-hour power reserve.
Dimensions:
Delivered in a beautiful custom stamped (Provenance Watches) leather travel case. Makes for a perfect gift.
