A WWII-Era Civitas German Military-Issued Watch with Bold Arabic Numerals and Patina, c.1930s.
On a German watch, "DH" is a marking from World War II that stands for "Dienstuhr Heer," or "Army Service Watch," indicating it was standard-issue for the German Army (Heer). The "D" and "H" flank a serial number on the watch's case back and identify it as a military-issued timepiece from that era. These German 'DH' watches were there equivalent to our English w.w.w, Dirty Dozen Watches!
During WWII, Civitas produced watches for the German Military, these watches were built with precision and durability sutible for a battlefield. They were also good to look at with large bold arabic numerals and a good looking subdial. Today, Civitas timepieces are prized by collectors for their historical significance and craftsmanship.
