Chrysogonum virginianum
Chrysogonum is a native groundcover known for both its foliage and flowers. Light green, triangular leaves are the perfect backdrop for the star-shaped, golden flowers. They bloom well above the foliage and have contrasting brown stamens. The flowers appear abundantly in the spring and fall and sporadically through the heat of summer. In northerly climates, it tends to be more upright, while in southerly climates they are often more prostrate or creeping.

Grow in partial to dappled shade or in full sun in northern regions. Chrysogonum prefers moist soils, but will tolerate dryer conditions with protection from the sun.
